The Cincinnati Reds have acquired two international signing slots from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for Minor League right-hander Franderlyn Romero.

Only certain draft picks may be traded, but teams are able to trade individual signing allotments, subject to certain restrictions.

It's not yet known which slots were sent to Cincinnati.

The Chicago White Sox are ready to upgrade their Major League roster early if the opportunity presents itself, according to a report.

Rick Hahn appeared on WSCR's "Inside the Clubhouse" show this week and expressed an aggressive approach toward improving his roster. 

"We are prepared to make a big move today if it presents itself," the general manager said. "Our timing may not line up with the other 29 clubs just yet. It is a little early in the process. A lot of clubs don't make those moves until June or July. We are having conversations right now hoping it comes together more quickly than that."

Hahn acknowledged that it may take a few weeks for clubs to warm to the idea of trading players.

The Kansas City Royals are off to a slow start after winning the World Series last fall.

A year ago, they acquired Ben Zobrist and Johnny Cueto near to deadline to boost the roster for a playoff run. They don't have enough depth in their farm system to pull off similar deals this summer.

"The Royals have some prospects other teams find attractive, but most are at the lower levels, where major deals are rarely done," writes Sam Mellinger of the Kansas City Star. "Three of the four minor-league prospects the Royals dealt a year ago are now in big-league rotations."

Kansas City only has two players among Baseball America's top 100 prospects -- Raul Mondesi, was has been suspended 50 games, and Kyle Zimmer.

Jose Reyes has generated some trade interest around the league despite a looming suspension that is expected to be "at least" 60 games in length.

Reyes has a significant amount left on his contract with the Colorado Rockies -- nearly $40 million through 2017.

The seven-year extension the Washington Nationals gave Stephen Strasburg on Monday night could lead to a heightened trade market, writes Jon Paul Morosi.

"Strasburg's sudden absence from the upcoming free-agent class effectively removes the possibility of any Major League Baseball franchise signing a No. 1 starter and perhaps even a solid No. 2. Japanese right-hander Shohei Otani -- the Yu Darvish-like ace of the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters -- is unlikely to be posted this winter, and the domestic free-agent pool is devoid of top-end talent," Morosi writes.

Bartolo Colon, Rich Hill, Juan Nicasio, R.A Dickey and Mat Latos will be the most productive starters on the market this winter, which could motivate teams to make a trade for a top-level starter.

Angels general manager Billy Eppler adamantly shut down speculation that the team should consider trading outfielder Mike Trout, saying the Angels have "no intent or desire to consider moving" him.

"He's not moving," Eppler told Fox Sports on Friday. "He's an impact player, a huge piece in a championship core."
